Atlanta is one of the best places to live! There is so much to love about living in this vibrant and thriving city. Here are just 5 things:
1. Cost of Living
When you compare Atlanta to cities like Chicago, Boston, Dallas, and Baltimore, it’s much more affordable when it comes to things like the costs of groceries, housing, healthcare, utilities, and transportation. The cheapest neighborhoods are Summerhill, Buckhead Village, Westview, East Atlanta, Knight Park/Howell Station, Piedmont Heights, and Underwood Hills.
2. Diversity
Another great thing about living in this city is the incredible diversity you will find here. Atlanta is home to the second largest majority black metro area in the country and the 19th largest LGBT populations per capita in the country. It’s great to live in a city where there’s no shortage of different experiences and perspectives!
3. The Food
Whether you’re picking up a taco from one of the food trucks at the Atlanta Food Truck Park & Market or enjoying a delectable filet from Bones or simply dipping some onion rings from the Varsity in as much ketchup as you can find, there is food here for everyone. The variety and quality of restaurants that are available in Atlanta will leave you licking your lips and ready for more.
4. The Arts
There is such a rich and vibrant artistic scene here—whether you’re referring to beautiful exhibits at the HIGH Museum of Art, premieres of shows that often find their way to Broadway at the Alliance Theatre, or the epic sounds of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Or if you’re wanting something more intimate, you can go support a local band at The Earl or see local Atlanta actors often performing work by Atlanta playwrights at Horizon Theatre or Actor’s Express.
5. Mild, Short Winters
If you’re not a winter person, you will definitely enjoy living in Atlanta! Our winters are often very short (from about December to March—with a lot of spring fake outs in between). Aside from the entire city freaking out in the snow, the winters here are extremely tolerable, especially when you compare them to say, Boston or Chicago. Brrrr!
There are so many reasons to love living in Atlanta! Atlanta homeowners are so incredibly lucky to call this vibrant and thriving city home!
